Friendship is a very important thing to me.  It always has been, always will.  Just recently, I've been a bit confused and down from mixed messages I've been getting.  I've been trying to deal with this as best as I can, but obviously I'm not being very successful!  It really stinks thinking that you might lose a great friend because of...honesty.

Telling your great friend that your relationship cannot be more than friendship really stinks because you may end up losing that friendship.  But wouldn't that mean that maybe that friendship was not as special or as strong as you thought it was...but it was and that's what I don't get about all this.

Sometimes friends (I assume we're talking male here) think that things might have a chance of blossoming into something more.

If you're unhappy with that then you really need to tell him that. If he's a "true" friend he'll understand and, although probably disappointed, that shouldn't dampen your friendship.

If he throws a "strop" then he really isn't that solid and dependable a friend IMHO.

Hey Pwnzer. I've actually been in that guys shoes. Not the whole proposing part of it, but where you think it's one thing and not the other. Things can work themselves out. Just so you know, you're not out there all alone Pwnzer.
